Aims and Goals
The objects of the society are to encourage the culture and propagation of all species of Pheasant, Megapode and Waterfowl in Australia and to perpetuate, to the best of our ability, those species in their purest and most perfect form; also to endeavour to have new species and fresh stock introduced, to collect and distribute pertinent and scientific data and information relating the keeping and rearing of Pheasants, Waterfowl and other Game Birds by means of the Pheasant Magazine. |
History
The Society was first mooted in 1966 in South Australia and was originally intended to service the needs and requirements of people of that state. However, the South Australian Society became so popular that people from other states began to join also. After ten years of operation the S.A. Society in their wisdom, chose to form a Federal Body with each state becoming a Chapter and the name was changed to the: PHEASANT AND WATERFOWL SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIA. In 1977 the Society held its first ever Convention and Show at Tanunda in South Australia. This drew participants from all over Australia and as a result active interstate branches became a reality. |
